Overview
Managed by Las Vegas-based Stations Casinos, Inc. (its first major management contract outside Nevada) and designed by JMA, phase I of Thunder Valley was built in just 220 days. The schedule was accelerated by working six-day weeks and double shifts.
Completed in 2007, phase I consisted of a 240,000 square feet of the casino floor and an 8,000 square foot central plant.
Completed in 2010, the phase II expansion consisted of a 637-room, 20-level cast-in-place hotel tower, with EIFS and curtainwall exterior and a 451,549-sf addition to the existing casino. This includes gaming, restaurants, porte-cochere, pool deck and other miscellaneous spaces.
Phase II of the project also added a performing arts center constructed of structural steel with concrete on metal deck slabs, EIFS and curtainwall exterior, 3,000-seat capacity with pre-function space and back of the house as well as a 142,000-square-foot spa, and ballrooms.
