Typically, craftsmen would use real cedar, cement board or a carved plaster system, but all have limited applications in size, texture and color.

Using EIFS and a mixture of artistic stains and washings, the synthetic cedar gives the appearance of real cedar, but none of the limitations, which can include high cost and high maintenance. The synthetic cedar, which has been extremely well received by esteemed designers, architects and other professionals in the trade, is resistant to the weather and natural environment in the Seattle area.
