The Ilani Resort, which was named for the Cowlitz word meaning “to sing,” will highlight the Cowlitz Tribe’s history in its many design features and sculptural elements. This resort is located just outside of Portland, Oregon in Ridgefield.
The 368,000-square-foot resort has a 75,000 square-foot casino floor with 2,500 slot machines, and a 260,000 square foot area for shopping and dining. One of the feature restaurants is a Michael Jordan’s Steak House. Additionally, Ilani has two entertainment hubs: 360 Bar and Muze. The 360 Bar includes a salmon-colored sculpture that the project leads nicknamed “the salmon tornado.”
During the duration of this project, KHS&S installed over a mile of light cove soffits, within a very tight schedule. This scheduling restraint was overcome by prefabricating drywall and framing members. This allowed us to reduce the amount of taping time from the schedule in the field.
